A spring message from President Dan Martin

May 19, 2023
KU Endowment President Dan Martin

The philanthropy of KU’s alumni and friends in support of students, programs, faculty and research enhances the value of the KU degree and has helped make KU the major comprehensive research and teaching university it is today.

Thousands of students graduated from KU in May, many of whom have benefited from the scholarships, awards, fellowships and loans made possible by KU donors.

The value of their KU degrees is stronger than ever, as evidenced by U.S. News & World Report’s recent rankings. KU ranked well in several categories:

  • 37 graduate programs in the top 50 among public universities – including nine programs in the top 10.
  • KU’s local government management program retained its No. 1 ranking among all universities.
  • KU’s paleontology program ranked No. 1 among public schools.
  • In the KU School of Education & Human Sciences, the special education graduate program was ranked No. 1 among public schools, and the School of Education & Human Sciences ranked among the top 20 best Education Schools overall.
  • The School of Law entered the overall top 50 for the first time in history with a No. 40 ranking among all law schools, as well as a No. 18 ranking among public universities.
  • The KU School of Medicine has two programs – medicine-primary care and medicine-research – ranked in the top 50 among public universities.

Congratulations to KU’s newest graduates and to their families, and our sincere thanks and appreciation to all of our donors for your wonderful generosity.

Rock Chalk!

Daniel J. Martin
