Kurt Watson, chair of Far Above: The Campaign for Kansas, and a KU Endowment Trustee, announced today that donors have contributed more than $708 million toward the campaign’s $1.2 billion goal.

KU Endowment provided an all-time high of $119.3 million in direct financial support for the University of Kansas in fiscal 2012, which ended June 30. This represents a 6 percent increase over the previous fiscal year.

David and Debbi Elkouri, of Wichita and Houston, have longtime connections with the University of Kansas School of Law. And, they are making sure their family’s ties to KU will last in perpetuity by donating $800,000 to the school.

A new scholarship at the University of Kansas will benefit students in the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications.

From 1996 through 2011, nearly 300 University of Kansas professors received William T. Kemper Fellowships for Teaching Excellence.
