Meet the 2021 Chancellors Club Scholars

Addi recently graduated from Blue Valley West High School. Addi is continuing her education as an Exercise Science major. The majority of Addi’s free time prior to enrolling in college was spent swimming for her high school and year-round Cool Swim team. She most recently collected four gold medals at the Missouri Valley Championships. She will continue swimming for KU.


 


 

Jesse DuBokJesse DeBok

Jesse is a recent graduate of Shawnee Mission Northwest High School and plans to major in Computer Science. He has dedicated numerous hours of his time to baseball, the tuba in his school marching band, and participating in Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of the math club and has earned many science awards in the various competitions he entered.

John is a recent graduate of Mill Valley High School and plans to major in Electrical Engineering. Much of his time is dedicated to music.  He played in Mill Valley’s jazz band and earned a spot as the district band’s lone jazz guitarist. John has been recognized as the Kansas All-State jazz guitarist for three consecutive years.

Brian is a recent graduate from Blue Valley North High School. Brian has a strong interest in science, sparked by his involvement in the Science Olympiad Club. He has also spent his time playing high school tennis and piano, volunteering at the local animal shelter and at the Museum at Prairiefire.

Adam is a recent graduate from Garden City Senior High School, and has a strong interest in technology. He plans to major in Computer Science. Extracurricular activities include his school’s robotics and Scholar’s Bowl teams, Boy Scouts, Math Relays at Fort Hays State, and the Duke TIP Summer Studies Program.

Yuwen is a recent graduate of Blue Valley Northwest High School and plans to major in Aerospace Engineering.  She has dedicated numerous hours of her time swimming for the varsity team, leading the cello section in the Chamber Orchestra Club, participating in Le Grand Concours, designing graphics for social media for InterSTEM, and competing with the Science Olympiad team.

Isabel is a recent graduate of Lawrence Free State High School and plans to major in Computer Science. She has played both the cello and the violin since sixth grade and has spent numerous hours rehearsing and practicing as a leader for her section. Isabel participated in the Scholar’s Bowl and has a passion for academics and technology. She especially enjoys coding.

Jeannine recently graduated from Maize High School and plans to major in Environmental Studies. Jeannine served as team captain for the Policy Debate team, and was a member of the Mayor’s Youth Council, Student Council and Chemistry Club. She qualified as a National Merit Semifinalist.

Colin is a recent graduate of Lawrence High School and plans to major in Computer Engineering. Throughout his high school years Colin has been a member of the National Honor Society and has participated in the Scholar’s Bowl. He was also in marching band, serving as a section leader, and played baseball. Colin enjoys taking advanced level courses, especially in math.

Maria is a recent graduate of St. James Academy, and will be continuing her education as a Pre-Medicine major. She is interested in a medical career so she can help others in need. Throughout Maria’s high school career, she participated in the Scholar’s Bowl as a captain, the Cross-country team as a senior captain, the National Honor Society and school choir.

Emma recently graduated from Blue Valley High School. Currently, Emma is considering a major in Biology, Chemistry or Exercise Science. As a student at Blue Valley High school, Emma was involved in the volleyball team, yearbook, church youth group, Relay for Life, and the Kay Club.

William graduated from Olathe Northwest High School, and is the first Jayhawk in his family.  He plans to continue his education as a Computer Engineering major, as he has always had a special interest in computer hardware and programming.  Outside of the classroom, William is also a passionate pianist and has been playing for more than 10 years.

Leo is a recent high school graduate (homeschool) from the state of Kansas and will be pursuing his Engineering degree. He is especially interested in Civil, Mechanical and Chemical Engineering. Outside of the classroom, Leo enjoys playing the guitar, mountain biking and hanging out with his friends in art school.

Trisha graduated from Olathe North High School and plans to major in Chemistry. Trisha founded a website (“Scimplified”) to help students better understand chemistry concepts though various visual aids. When she is not working on her website, she practices dance, participates in the National Honors Society, the Faraday Society, and the National Art Honors Society.

Chris graduated from Pleasant Ridge High School and will be continuing his education as an Accounting major. As a student at Pleasant Ridge High school, Chris was involved in the Boy Scouts of America, Future Business Leaders of America, 4-H, and the Scholar’s Bowl. He has a passion for academics, specifically accounting.

Emily recently graduated from Washburn Rural High School and will be continuing her education as a Pre-Pharmacy major. As a student at WRHS, Emma was involved in the marching band as a section leader, volunteered at the local hospital, participated in a church youth group, and was accepted into a specialty STEM program with a focus on Biotechnology.
