Marching Jayhawks: keeping time
- 1887: first band at KU, 12-piece military band organized by student Stuart O. Henry
- 1892: Marching Jayhawks established
- 1906: first band uniforms
- 1907: first faculty band director
- 1927: John Philip Sousa directs KU band when his band performs at Hoch Auditorium
- 1969: first pregame performance of sunflower formation
- 1971: first pregame parade down Campanile Hill to Memorial Stadium
- 1972: women become regular part of band
- 1989: band wins Sudler Trophy, highest honor available to college marching bands
- 1994: band listed among top ten college bands by Sports Illustrated
- 2005: “Feather the Flock” campaign raises $150,000 to replace 25-year-old uniforms
- 2007: first all-woman drum major corps
