Support from foundations and corporations is vital to helping the University of Kansas accomplish its mission. Although KU is a state institution, it receives only about 23 percent of its funding from the state.
A gift to KU is an investment in an institution that has earned accolades for the quality of its education, service and research.
KU is the only university in the state of Kansas to hold membership in the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU), a select group of 62 public and private research universities that represents excellence in graduate and professional education and the highest achievements in research internationally.
In fiscal 2007, contributions from corporations and foundations accounted for $22.3 million in gifts, generating 28.7 percent of KU Endowment’s gift revenue.
